Research Interests
I am interested in research on Coral reef ecology, fish biogeography and ecology, marine reserves planning, and environmental assessment and monitoring. I think it is also of prime importance that all research is passed on to the general public, especially to those people who are directly in contact with the environment, whether as source of income, or as recreation. It is important that all people become aware on how to use natural resources the best way, that is, make them available for future generations.

My current research addresses reef fish ecology, focusing on the influence of herbivores on coral reef community structure. I have been exploring this subject since 2008, working together with researchers in Northeastern Brazil, Caribbean Panama and Mediterranean Spain. My past research includes the impacts of dams and roads construction on continental fish communities and species ecology.

Teaching Experience
I have taught undergraduate Biology, Environmental sciences and Oceanography courses on the topics of Population ecology, Fish ecology, Aquatic environments ecology, and Resources management.
